The New York trip was a unique opportunity for us, since the US market is essential in our scaling process. It’s a place where exciting business opportunities are countless.
From the 11th to the 14th of April, TinkerList among a select group of startups, was granted the opportunity to get to know the innermost circles of New York’s business and entrepreneurial scene.
We’re already contacting TV companies in the NYC area to meet up! We can’t wait to pitch our ideas to NYC TV makers and learn about the television landscape on the other side of the Atlantic.
The four-day program was filled with pitching sessions, including to KJ Singh, director of Techstars, one of the best and most competitive acceleration programs worldwide. Networking events with both potential clients and fellow entrepreneurs such as the NYTechBreakfast at the Microsoft headquarters, were also part of the program.
The pitch nerves rose even higher than usual at the Be Bold in New York Show & Tell event. Not surprising, since no one other than Minister of Digital Agenda Alexander De Croo took place front row.
Minister De Croo kicked off the event by showing his encouragement in startups talking steps to go global.
Im excited to hear that at least one of you has already put the brand new tax shelter for startups into practice (TinkerList, who recently dragged Tom Lenaerts and Bart Cannaerts on board). I can only encourage you to do the same. Seriously, I had to arm wrestle my coalition partner to make this measure happen, so please: Use it!”

The minister also added “I believe that if you get the chance to spread your wings, you absolutely should. I know plenty of Belgian startups who rose to success abroad but still maintained a very close connection to their homeland. And that’s something we can only be proud of.”
“DARE TO TAKE THE STAGE AND SHOW OFF YOUR TALENT!”
